Lábúlé

Meet Lábúlé — Creator of Highfro

Lábúlé is a Nigerian Afro-fusion artist and the pioneer of Highfro — a vibrant blend of Highlife and Afrobeat, powered by both traditional African rhythms and western percussive instruments.
Beyond the stage, Lábúlé is academically accomplished, holding a degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Lagos and a Master’s in Construction Management from the University of Brighton, United Kingdom. His journey reflects a balance of intellectual excellence and deep-rooted passion for music.
The rhythm of music has been with Lábúlé since childhood. According to his mother, nothing calmed him as a baby except the sounds of Chief Ebenezer Obey or King Sunny Ade. By primary and secondary school, he was already leading as a head drummer, and though he slowed down in university, he immersed himself in the live performances of Lagbaja at Motherland and Femi Kuti at the African Shrine. These experiences shaped his artistry and gave birth to a sound that bridges heritage, rhythm, and modern storytelling.
Today, Lábúlé stands as a cultural innovator — a voice that celebrates Africa’s past while pushing Afrobeat into the future through Highfro.
“I am married to my drums, and music is the heartbeat that keeps me alive.”Lábúlé
